British PM Starmer presses Tehran and Washington to resolve conflict as Pakistan peace talks hit deadlock

Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is calling on Tehran and Washington to “find a way forward” after peace talks in Islamabad ended in disagreement.

In the early hours of Sunday, April 12, talks between Iran and the US to end the war in the Middle East ended inconclusively after a continuous 21-hour session in Pakistan, resulting in the departure of the US delegation led by Vice President JD Vance, as Iran did not take a step back from building nuclear weapons.

Analyzing peace talks with the Sultan of Oman, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, he implored both countries to find solutions and prevent a two-week ceasefire from turning into permanent tension in the Middle East.

“They discussed the peace talks held in Pakistan over the weekend and urged both sides to find a way forward,” a Downing Street spokesperson shared.

The statement concluded, “It was important that the ceasefire continues, and that all parties refrain from further escalation.”
