Laverne Cox has finally shared her experience working with Keanu Reeves in the new film, Outcome.
Speaking to People magazine at the dark comedy’s New York City premiere, the 53-year-old actress revealed that Keanu was “focused” on the set.
Laverne said, “Keanu is focused, and Keanu is intense and just dials in every single take.”
“But once his coverage is done, he calms down a bit, and he talks more. But he’s calm and really normal – as normal as you can be when you’re an international superstar,” she added. “But very quiet, and gentle and almost shy, which makes you want him even more.”
“But I was very appropriate on set — I didn’t flirt,” the ‘Uglies’ star said.
Laverne further revealed why she was initially unsure about doing the film.
“(I) received an email from Jonah with a personal note about my work and how he really wanted me to play this character of Virginia. And it was so sweet. And I said, ‘Oh, that’s so sweet.’ And then I said, ‘Okay, let’s read the script,'” the actress recalled.
“And the script was so smart, so funny, so insightful. What Virginia said was so insightful — it started out as a five-page monologue about the smartest, smartest things she had to say as a character on screen. And I said, ‘Okay, I have to do this,'” she continued.
“And then Keanu Reeves, it’s honestly like, (Jonah) could have just led with Keanu Reeves and I would have been like, ‘I’m in. I’m in,'” LaVern said.
