Flash flood warnings are in effect for parts of northern Michigan as heavy rain, melting snow and incoming storms are raising flood concerns.
According to the National Weather Service, several rounds of rain are expected through Wednesday, which will increase the risk of rivers rising, overflowing streams and flooding in low-lying areas.
Officials say the entire area is being monitored for flooding due to snowmelt and additional rainfall.
Flash flood warnings remain active for the Au Sable River and low-lying areas near Mio, as well as along the Manistee River, where water releases from dams have worsened conditions.
A widespread flood warning is also in effect until April 19 for areas of Emmet and Cheboygan counties within the Cheboygan River Basin.
Forecasters warned that another round of heavy rain and potentially severe storms will arrive on Monday night.
The storm is expected to move through Wisconsin and reach northern Michigan in the evening.
The greatest threat of severe weather is forecast for areas south and west of the Clair Line from Traverse City, where large hail and high winds are possible. Elsewhere there is a possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight.
Conditions are expected to improve over the weekend, although more rain is forecast on Saturday, followed by a return of cold weather and snow by Sunday.
