With the Invictus Games returning to the UK in 2027 for the first time since their inception in 2014, reports suggest the king’s youngest son is looking forward to seeing his father take to the world stage on the day of the event. However, there are a lot of questions going on and the rumor mill is heating up due to the rift with the company.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also thinks so about the possibility and spoke to fox news digital recently.
“Their hope is obviously that the king will open those games,” he said. But “it may not all go according to plan, especially due to the lack of trust between him and the royal family.”
There’s also the matter of his security, which is the main point that would make any of this possible, as reports suggest he won’t travel home unless he can find security for himself, Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet and Meghan Markle, who is rumored to be visiting.
Mr FitzWilliams also brought up the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry as an example before the signing, saying, “There is a bitter rift and he has exploited his royal position disgustingly, but his plan is undeniably bold and the way King Charles handles matters will also be hugely important.” (Thus)
For those who don’t know, it started as a result of various anti-royal interviews, then escalated with a memoir where Prince Harry recalled some private family moments. This eventually culminated, along with other interviews, into a documentary series for Netflix that followed soon after.
However, efforts for reconciliation are now said to be ongoing. So much so that Prince Harry even took the Home Office to court over its 2018 decision to strip him of his automatic taxpayer-funded security after stepping down from royal life.
Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner shared a similar view. Speaking to the same outlet, he hypothesized that “given the space to be reunited, and King Charles’s desire to bring them back into the royal family, they have a bright long-term future.”
