President Trump ignited fury among Christian and Catholic communities after sharing an image depicting himself as Jesus Christ
As he attempts to brush off the backlash, a resurfaced video has emerged showing the president struggling to recall a single Bible verse
The cringe-worthy footage dates back to a 2015 interview in which Trump, then a businessman vying for the Republican presidential nomination ahead of the 2016 election, declined to share his favorite Bible verse, despite having previously declared it his “favorite book
“I wouldn’t wanna get into it, because to me, that’s very personal,” Trump told the interviewer. “You know, when I talk about the Bible, it’s very personal, so I don’t wanna get into it.”
When the interviewer pushed further, asking if any particular verse resonated with him, Trump once again dodged the question. It comes after Trump made a disturbing sex comment on stage that silenced the audience

Further prolonging the uncomfortable exchange, a second interviewer challenged the future president – who was at the time courting the religious community and projecting an image of a devout Christian – on whether he preferred the Old or New Testament, reports the Irish Star
“Uh, probably equal,” Trump responded
“I think it’s just an incredible, the whole Bible is incredible. I joke very much so, they always hold up ‘The Art of the Deal,’ I say that’s my second favorite book of all time,” he continued, referencing his own book
“But I just think the Bible is just something very special.”
Social media users were quick to mock the president, claiming he misrepresented his knowledge of the Bible and his understanding of religion
“He doesn’t know any [Bible verses]. Liars hate being caught out. He hadn’t heard of the Old and New Testaments,” one user remarked
“If Jesus were living among us, he would call him a weak, lefty, lunatic loser (that’s the limitation of his vocabulary). As for the Bible, well it is so evident he doesn’t even know a thing about it,” another user observed
“He probably couldn’t tell you the names of the first 4 books of the Bible,” a third person suggested
The resurfaced footage comes to light following the president’s removal of a controversial Truth Social post depicting himself as Jesus, amid his ongoing clash with Pope Leo over the Iranian war
The AI-generated image showed Trump dressed in robes, using supernatural powers to heal someone, with iconic American landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the Lincoln Memorial visible in the background. Military jets and bald eagles also featured prominently in what appeared to be the president’s personal vision of paradise
When pressed by reporters about the image, Trump described the AI-generated picture as being “supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”
President Trump and Pope Leo have clashed repeatedly in recent weeks, with the pontiff voicing opposition to the Iranian conflict, which commenced on Feb. 28 following coordinated US-Israeli military strikes authorized by the Trump administration
Most significantly, during his Palm Sunday address, the pope proclaimed that God “rejects” the prayers of warmongers and “does not listen” to leaders who use religion to legitimize warfare
Then on Sunday, Trump launched a blistering assault on Pope Leo, claiming he doesn’t think history’s first American pope is “doing a very good job” and that “he’s a very liberal person,” while additionally implying the pontiff should “stop catering to the Radical Left
“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” the president wrote in his post, adding, “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”
The pope responded to the attacks on Monday, speaking with journalists as he embarked on his most extensive foreign visit yet to Algeria
The pontiff insisted his stance against the conflict was rooted in the Gospel rather than politics, and that he holds no apprehension toward the Trump administration
“To put my message on the same plane as what the president has attempted to do here, I think, is not understanding what the message of the Gospel is,” Leo said on a plane to Algeria. “And I’m sorry to hear that, but I will continue on what I believe is the mission of the church in the world today.”
He went on to clarify that his criticism of the conflict wasn’t intended as a personal attack on Trump or his government
“I will not enter into debate. The things that I say are certainly not meant as attacks on anyone. The message of the Gospel is very clear: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers,'” Leo said
“I will not shy away from announcing the message of the Gospel and inviting all people to look for ways of building bridges of peace and reconciliation, and looking for ways to avoid war any time that’s possible.”
