TL;DR
- Galaxy phone owners are facing issues with AirDrop support of Quick Share.
- Files sent to iPhone are missing metadata like location and lens details.
- Samsung has confirmed that it is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.
Samsung recently introduced Quick Share AirDrop support for its Galaxy phones. After first arriving on the Galaxy S26 series, support is now starting to spread to older Galaxy devices via One UI 8.5 beta. While this feature allows for quick and easy file transfers between Galaxy phones and iPhones, users have noticed a small problem. The good news is that Samsung is fully considering this and a fix is in the works.

The issue in question involves the metadata that is shared, or in this case not shared, when the file is sent. Documents, photos, and other things have metadata that tells you things like file size, creation date, and more. When sending a file via Quick Share, this data should be transferred with it.
However, lord of the galaxy (via mojo trick) have noticed that after sending a file to an iPhone some of this information is missing, especially location and camera lens data. The problem appears to be even worse with video, where hardly any metadata is kept, except for a few details like resolution.
On the Korean Samsung community site, a moderator has confirmed that there is an issue when sharing files with iPhones. The moderator also confirms that the Quick Share team is aware of the bug and are working on a fix. According to the post, the fix will be included in the next software update.
So if you are also facing the same problem, then wait for the next update. You can check if an update is available by opening Settings, tapping Software Update, and selecting Download and Install.
