TL;DR
- Spotify has moved away from simply enhancing its mobile app, introducing a refreshed layout specifically for Android tablets and iPads.
- The update includes adaptive orientation for portrait/landscape mode and a new collapsible sidebar for parallel browsing.
- The rollout is currently live, featuring easy access to video toggles while maintaining a familiar experience for longtime users.
On Android tablets and iPads, Spotify previously had an enhanced mobile interface, which was usable but not a great experience. With the refreshed tablet layout, Spotify now aims to take better advantage of the extra space.
For starters, the Spotify app on tablets now features adaptive orientation. The app interface now reconfigures when you switch between portrait and landscape modes instead of just resizing.

It also has a collapsible sidebar that lets you browse music while it’s actively playing in parallel, or expand it if you want to focus on the music. There’s also interactive, scrollable content for you to enjoy without leaving what’s going on in the sidebar.

Spotify is also putting a “Switch to video” toggle up front if you want to watch videos along with your music. The rest of the interface feels familiar, so longtime users won’t feel lost in the changes.
The new interface should already be available on Android tablets and iPad. Give it a try and let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
