Meghan Trainor’s friend, Chris Olsen, is defending the singer-songwriter after she faced criticism following her tour cancellation.
After the 32-year-old American singer announced she was canceling her upcoming tour, which was set to begin in June, Olsen, known for her content creation, took to social media to defend her friend online.
“I think it’s now public knowledge that Meghan Trainor has canceled her tour,” he said in a video posted to TikTok on April 16.
She added, “And on the one post saying this had happened, the comment section was predictably vicious.”
Pointing to the comments section of the post in which Meghan announced the cancellation, Olsen took questions from the audience.
“What is the ultimate goal?” He inquired, “Because sure, the goal might be to make other people laugh because you’re saying something that’s cheesy, but you think it’s funny. The goal might be to hurt the person you’re making the comment to.”
Addressing this “disgusting” behavior, Olsen shared how she has also been receiving death threats online.
He shared, “I’ve received death threats before, so I know that sometimes people just want you to die, which I also know to mean they want you to go away. And they probably mean it in the harshest possible way.”
Concluding the video, the influencer said that there will always be “people who will harass you” online.
