Pope Leo says news outlets misinterpreted recent comments as criticism of Trump
Pope Leo XIV said that news outlets misinterpreted his recent comments as criticism of President Trump. The Pope has called for an end to violence in the Middle East, but told reporters on Saturday he had no interest in debating the president.

Buongiorno, hello. There is a certain narrative that is not accurate in all its aspects. Because of the political situation that arose at that time the President of the United States made some comments about me on the first day of the visit. Much of what has been written since then is more commentary on commentary, attempting to explain what has been said. Woe to those who manipulate religion in the name of God for their military, economic or political gain. Dragging what is sacred into darkness and filth. The speech I gave at the prayer meeting for peace a few days ago was prepared two weeks ago, before the President had ever commented about me and the message of peace I preach. And yet, as it happens, it was viewed as if I was trying to debate the President again, which I have no interest in at all.
