Elle Fanning does not shy away from showing it all in front of the camera. Her latest series on Apple TV+, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, is an example of this.
While admitting that she’s not “very polite” on camera in terms of portraying on-screen nudity, Fanning says she’s already done such scenes, pointing to her acting in The Great, a Hulu series in which she played Catherine the Great.
“I feel like I broke it in The Great,” she tells People. “I was like, ‘I’ve already done this.'”
Rather than being uncomfortable, Fanning shared that she was “really proud” of how her on-screen nudity came across on the show, after she turned to OnlyFans to raise financial support after becoming pregnant with her English professor.
“I’m really proud of how nudity is portrayed in (Margo’s Got Money Troubles), because it’s not in an overly sexual way at all.”
The 28-year-old said the nudity in Margo’s Got Money Trouble serves a purpose rather than sending up cheap thrills.
“A lot of it really has to do with the needs of motherhood, the need to feed your baby and breastfeed,” she shares.
“And later, when Margo was working with her OnlyFans, it was kind of compounded. But I think it’s a good commentary on how her relationship with her body changes.”
Elaborating further, Fanning says that she had to use prosthetics for the breastfeeding scenes.
“Many times, I had prostheses to make (my breasts) look like lactating breasts and the milk would come out with this device that had them.”
“So I’d be in the trailer and they’d put them on, and then I’d be like, ‘Okay, I’m just going out.’ And I say, ‘Wait a second; I can’t go out. This is not a shirt.
