Prince Harry recently opened up about the lasting impact of losing his mother, Princess Diana, with insiders saying the trauma still runs deeper than he has publicly acknowledged.
During his recent trip to Australia with wife Meghan Markle, the Duke of Sussex attended a November charity event in Melbourne.
She shared that she went to therapy before becoming a parent to deal with unresolved issues from her past.
Speaking on his speech, an insider told radar online Harry’s comments were one of the most revealing comments on the long shadow Diana’s death has cast over his life.
“This was one of Harry’s most open views about the shadow that Diana’s death still casts over his life,” the insider said.
He added, “He was essentially saying that he had to face that trauma before he could properly emerge as a father.
“It seems he sees therapy not just as treatment, but as preparation – almost like breaking a cycle before raising the next generation.
“But his confession is really only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the pain he still feels over Diana’s death.”
During the discussion, Harry shared how he prepared himself to become a parent, saying, “Certainly from a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids.”
“And I knew that I had things from the past that I needed to deal with and so, basically prepare myself to purge myself of the past.”
“My wife was the one building the life, and I was there to see it… I think for many people, you try to think about what service I can provide at this point, because my work here is somewhat done.”
