BC Ferries services at Horseshoe Bay in the Canadian city of Vancouver have been suspended following a police incident on one of its ships, causing massive delays for passengers.

According to CTV, the disruption first began on April 19, when the Queen of Surrey was docked.

BC Ferries confirmed that no loading or unloading is taking place “for the safety of passengers” and said there is no clear timeline for when service will resume due to the “significant incident.”

A ferry scheduled to depart for Snug Cove at 11:55 a.m. and a ferry scheduled to depart for Langdale at 12:10 p.m. were both docked, while a ferry traveling from Nanaimo was delayed offshore, unable to berth and unload.

By 4:00 pm bystanders reported that no ships had arrived or departed from Horseshoe Bay.

West Vancouver Police said officers were at the terminal to assist “a member of the public” and asked people to stay away from the area and follow police directions.

Passengers have been advised to consider alternative routes, including Duke Point to Tsawwassen service, and check for updates through official channels.
