Apple said on Monday that John Ternes will replace Tim Cook as CEO, with Cook assuming the role of executive chairman on September 1.
“Cook will remain in his role as CEO through the summer as he works closely with Ternus to lead a smooth transition,” Apple said in a press release.
It is the first CEO change for Apple since Cook took over from Steve Jobs in 2011, shortly before Jobs’ death.
