Video captured on Mount Wilson in the Angeles National Forest shows a black bear attacking a hiker.
VideoPosted on Instagram Monday by Eric Chiu, it shows a hiker walking toward a black bear (which appears to be brown) and making noises with bells to try to get the bear to move away.
Instead, the bear attacks the pedestrian just before the video stops. The passenger and the person making the recording apparently described it as spotless.
“I thought this guy was crazy and I hoped nothing would happen to him,” Chiu said. nbc los angeles. “To be honest, I’m not sure what was going through his mind, because the last thing you would think is that someone would actually walk toward a bear. And at that point, I was a little concerned for his safety.”
The video was recorded by Chiu’s stepmother, who saw the bear from a distance, she wrote in the caption.
No one was injured by the bear and it was a “false allegation,” Chiu wrote.
