A major airline has issued an important update to all its passengers after canceling its flights for several weeks. Qatar Airways was forced to suspend or significantly reduce its operations in late February 2026 due to mass airspace closures in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Jordan following an escalation of regional conflict that led the governments to close their skies for security reasons.
At times, following the complete closure of Qatari airspace, the airline has halted all flights worldwide – including every departure and arrival in Doha – and has said services will only resume when officials confirm the situation is safe. However, Qatar Airways announced the resumption of flight operations between Doha and major destinations in the Middle East, resuming daily services to the UAE and Syria.
From April 23, the popular airline will resume daily flights to Dubai (DXB), and Sharjah (SHJ), with daily service to Damascus (DAM) starting from May 1, 2026.
Sharing an update on Thursday, it said: “These resumptions are part of the phased resumption of Qatar Airways’ global network, building on the airline’s mid-April announcement confirming the expansion of its flight schedule to more than 150 destinations across six continents from 16 June 2026.”
Airlines have urged passengers to check their official website or app regularly and ensure that their contact details are correct and updated.
The statement further explained: “If you have a confirmed booking with travel dates between 28th February and 15th September 2026, you are eligible for:
“Upon re-booking on flights operated by Qatar Airways, the complimentary date changes to a new travel date up to 31 October 2026, subject to availability and seasonality of fares.
– If your flight is affected, you will remain eligible for additional fee-free changes until 31 October 2026.
– Refund of unused ticket value. Please note that refunds may take up to 28 business days to process.”
