Ahead of Iceman, Drake is drawing attention with his recent frozen stunt in Toronto by placing large blocks of ice in the city.
However, that’s not the only thing that is sparking new interest in the Canadian rap star among hip-hop lovers.
The latest point of excitement for Drake fans is his ranking on Spotify.
On the list of most streamed artists of all time on the platform, the One Dance hitmaker is the top rapper of all time and third artist overall.
It’s an amazing feat for the Toronto rapper, with the list including big names like Eminem and Kanye West.
Meanwhile, promotion for Iceman – Drake’s ninth studio album – is at its peak due to his icy stunt.
However, the 25-foot ice cube became a headache for city officials as it attracted large numbers of fans armed with flammable objects.
This wild reaction posed a potential threat to public safety, so under the orders of Fire Chief Jim Jessop, the frozen statue was shut down.
Despite the ice structure being demolished, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow praised Drake’s unique promotional style.
“Drake is a huge supporter of our city, and there’s a lot of excitement throughout our city towards this new album, The Iceman,” he said during a press conference. “I’m excited too; it’s going to be a great summer… but please, stay safe.”
The snowman will fall on May 15th.
