treatment before ministry
“And when all the nation was circumcised, they remained there in the tent until they were healed.” -Joshua 5:8
Before the nation of Israel could go to the Promised Land, they had to be circumcised. Circumcision is painful, bloody and personal. God requires that the heart of each of us be circumcised before we are allowed to enter and receive the blessings that await every believer in the Promised Land.
This circumcision can often be very painful. Circumcision requires losing one’s old lifestyle. The process of spiritual circumcision may mean loss in areas that have been a part of our lives in order to draw us to the Savior. God understands this. As a result, like the people of Israel, we must wait until we are healed before we can be effective in our calling. If we wear out too early, we will be ineffective and at risk of infection and disease and we will not be able to function at our full potential. God wants each of us to walk in His healing grace.
When the Israelites were coming out of Egypt they fought only two battles. He fought 39 battles in the Promised Land. Each of us must be ready to enjoy the benefits of living in the Promised Land. However, we must also be prepared to wage war against the enemy of our soul. Make sure the Lord has provided the necessary healing for your circumcision experience before you enter the Promised Land.
