A violent tornado struck Enid, Oklahoma, causing severe storm surge across several states. The city of 50,000, located in the north-central part of the state, is currently carrying out emergency operations in the Grays area.
Regarding the impact, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office released a statement: “There are no reports of any fatalities at this time, and only minor injuries are being reported.”
To clarify the current situation, Governor Kevin Stitt said he has spoken to city leaders. The National Weather Service for the area confirmed that a tornado was moving southeast of Enid at 8:40 p.m.
Meanwhile, emergency has been declared in some parts of the city and its surroundings. The city of Enid released a statement: “Residents are urged to stay away from the Grays area at this time as it is important to keep roads clear so that crews and heavy equipment can safely reach affected locations.”
Critically, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said the Red Cross set up the western side of the Chisholm Trail Expo Center Thursday night.
To deal with its consequences, Vance Air Force Base is assessing the damage caused by the tornado, which had a significant impact on the base. Tornadoes were reported Thursday in Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas, according to the National Weather Service.

In Kay County, Oklahoma, northeast of Enid, Sheriff Steve Kelly confirmed that trees and power lines were destroyed, adding that a home and barn suffered extensive structural damage.
