According to a tip received by 9to5GoogleGoogle may rename the Fitbit app to “Google Health.” It also looks like this rebranding will come with a new brushstroke-style heart logo featuring Google’s signature blue, green, yellow, and red gradient colors.
This new logo and the name “Google Health Premium” were spotted in international Google Store listings when adding a Pixel Watch or Fitbit device to cart. An Apple App Store listing for the Fitbit app was also seen with similar branding and pricing for the changed subscription. While the “In-App Purchases” section reflects the new name, the price shown there was the same as the existing $9.99 per month or $79.99 annual Fitbit Premium subscription.
Google appears to have removed this logo and mention of “Google Health Premium” from its website and app store. It’s possible that the company may have implemented these changes prematurely or may still be finalizing its rebranding strategy behind the scenes.
What is becoming increasingly clear is where Google is headed. While the Fitbit branding is expected to remain for hardware, like the upcoming “Google Fitbit Air” fitness band, software and services could be brought under the Google umbrella, one of the most visible changes so far in the gradual absorption of Fitbit by Google.
