boys Star Erin Moriarty revealed she was injured several times on set during filming, leaving her unable to walk.
Following the release of the fourth episode of the fifth and final season of the Prime Video series, in which Moriarty plays Annie January aka Starlight, she took to her social media to share details about her injury.
“Okay, so: Season 5, Episode 4 of The Boys is one of the most important episodes I’ve shot,” she wrote on Stories along with a photo of her foot wrapped in a bandage. “Unfortunately, that part of the season coincided with the peak of my health issues prior to my diagnosis. I’m saving you the sordid part of this picture, but shortly after this episode, I began to lose the ability to walk.”
She further explained her condition, “The numbness in my legs caused me to fall frequently. The night before I was to shoot my segment for this episode, I fell and fractured my knee.”
Expressing irritation over her autoimmune disease, Moriarty said, “I barely have any BTS shots this season, especially when things got bad. This is not a pity post. It’s mostly to say: F*** autoimmune disease. F*** it’s too hard. F*** the ignorance around it too. I can’t condone that ignorance but sometimes not being vocal about it, feels wrong.”
the blood father The actress announced her diagnosis of Graves’ disease in June 2025, and revealed that the condition left her feeling tired and nauseous.
”One thing I can say is: If I hadn’t attributed it to stress and fatigue, I would have caught it sooner,” she said at the time.
According to the Mayo Clinic website, Graves’ disease is “an immune system condition that affects the thyroid gland. It causes the body to make too much thyroid hormone. That condition is called hyperthyroidism.”
