IPL 2026 is in full swing and has reached the half stage. At this point in the season, there are clear indicators of which teams are going strong and which are not. Amidst so much intensity, teams and players take a step back and rest every now and then.
In one such example, Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar wished his father – the great Sachin Tendulkar – on his birthday in a video message posted by the franchise.
Sachin Tendulkar, popularly known as the “God of Cricket”, turned 53 on Friday, April 24. He had to celebrate this special day without his son, as Arjun seems completely committed to the needs of his franchise.
Arjun refused to take the plate of cake
In the video, Arjun wished his father a happy birthday and expressed hope that both would be able to meet soon. Arjun was also seen holding a plate which had pieces of cheesecake.
In the video, which Lucknow Super Giants posted on their social media handles, Arjun said that he will not enjoy the dish as he does not consume sugar often.

Arjun is yet to take the field for currently ninth-placed LSG in IPL 2026.

Arjun Tendulkar’s IPL career
After spending years as a net bowler, Arjun Tendulkar officially joined his father’s franchise – Mumbai Indians – as a player in 2021. In the same year, he missed the tournament due to injury.
Arjun was with Mumbai Indians throughout 2021, but made his IPL debut only in 2023. In five seasons (2021–2025), he played only five matches (4 in 2023, 1 in 2024) for the five-time champions.
In the five matches, he took only 3 wickets and scored 13 runs in the one innings in which he got a chance to bat. He also bowled an over of 31 runs against Punjab Kings.
In 2022, Arjun Tendulkar switched his home team from Mumbai to Goa in search of better opportunities and made both first-class and List A debuts for them in that format. He emulated his father by scoring a century on his first-class debut.
Ahead of the 2026 IPL season, Arjun was traded from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow Super Giants in a cash deal. Arjun Tendulkar was signed for his base price of Rs 30 lakh, but he has not played any matches for his new team.
Upcoming match of Lucknow Super Giants
With just 2 wins from 7 matches, Lucknow Super Giants are placed ninth in the IPL 2026 points table. Currently, they are facing defeat in four consecutive matches and are unable to strike the right balance for their team.
Their next match will be a home match in Lucknow. On April 26, they will face tenth-placed KKR. With LSG’s playoff hopes fading and some of their big names struggling, Arjun Tendulkar may get a chance in this game.
