King Charles is reportedly looking forward to his visit to the United States this month.
Her Majesty, who is set to meet President Donald Trump at the White House, is hoping to gain some ground on the political front.
A palace source told The Times: “We are optimistic about the visit while acknowledging the complexities and challenges it will bring. But overall, Her Majesty is excited about an event that celebrates the relationship between two countries and two people.”
Meanwhile, Trump earlier told Reuters: “I’m going to talk about everything.
“The king, who, let’s not forget, has cancer, will very soon make a real, non-semi state visit to Washington DC,” expert Alison Pearson told the Telegraph.
“An engagement that will require all his skills of diplomacy and good humor as he meets a President who is loudly trumpeting (not entirely without provocation) Britain’s cowardly irrelevance.
He added: “Plus, there will be undue pressure on poor Charles to meet the victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s discredited Andrew’s account – such as Harry, another exiled second son. The spare is a bloody liability.”
