Sanju Samson produced a stylish stumping on the leg side to dismiss Shubman Gill as CSK fans see a glimpse of their experienced gloveman MS Dhoni in their new wicketkeeper.
Chennai Super Kings had a very poor start to the innings and their top order including Sanju Samson collapsed in no time. After the fall of early wickets, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad batted brilliantly and provided stability to the team.
Coming with the ball, CSK bowlers could not trouble the solid GT openers who had put up huge partnerships of 100+ in the last game. However, unlike the last game, this time Shubman Gill took charge.
Brilliant work by Sanju Samson behind the stumps; Shubman Gill out after a confident start
Shubman Gill, along with last game’s centurion Sai Sudarshan, gave a solid start to his team. Taking charge of the attack, Gill scored 33 runs off just 23 balls in a 58-run partnership for the first wicket.
With only 100 more runs required, CSK were desperate for a breakthrough and included Noor Ahmed into the attack. Noor bowled perhaps one of the worst balls of the innings down leg and Gill missed the flick shot.
Sanju Samson did some exceptional work behind the stumps as he turned the bails sharply while Gill lifted his leg slightly in the air. It was lightning pace from the CSK keeper, showing glimpses of the great gloveman in the yellow outfit.
