A senior adviser to President Donald Trump was met with boos and silence after attempting to lead a patriotic chant following his firing at a high-profile dinner in Washington.Dan Scavino, a longtime Trump ally, was seen in the video clip climbing onto a chair and chanting “USA! USA! USA!” Was seen shouting. Shortly after shots were fired near the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner Saturday night. The reaction of the people around him was strange. Many attendees asked them to remain calm as security forces were working to control the situation.Footage shared online showed a tense atmosphere inside the Washington Hilton, where politicians, journalists and diplomats gathered for the annual event. A voice can be heard saying “God bless America!” Before Scavino began his chant. A man nearby briefly tried to join in, but quickly stopped as others blocked his attempt.Political reporter Peter Hamby wrote onArmed Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers were visible in the room at the time. They were securing the area and taking guests to safety. President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were evacuated along with Cabinet members.Authorities identified the suspect as Cole Thomas Allen, 31, of California, who was later taken into custody. He was armed and exchanged fire with officers before being subdued. BBC correspondent Gary O’Donoghue, who attended the dinner, said that security at the venue “wasn’t particularly heavy”.Despite the fear, the attacker was stopped before reaching the main ballroom, where the President was present. Trump later praised the Secret Service, saying they acted “bravely” in removing him and other officers from danger. The episode follows two assassination attempts on Trump in 2024, including a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania and another incident at his Florida golf course.
