Live from Los Angeles: I attended the 98th Academy Awards! As part of Etalk’s Oscars coverage, I reported from the red carpet with Tyrone Edwards and Lenny Louis. And let me tell you: it was like no other job I’d had before. The carpet was the longest of the season, running several lanes down Hollywood Boulevard, all the way inside the Dolby Theatre. Our coverage lasted for a full three and a half hours. And the scene was filled with the biggest stars in the world, Michael B. From Jordyn to Zendaya.
Attock’s camera angles captured many memorable moments – thanks to Lainey’s notoriously sharp eye for gossip – like Timothée Chalamet is avoiding Stephen Spielberg-And celebs like Brandi Carlile and Elle Fanning are downing tequila. Tyrone was able to speak to stars like Best Supporting Actress winner Amy Madigan who confirmed to Attalk that Warner Bros. is behind the Weapons prequel. And my work? Fashion expertise of course.
It didn’t take me long to figure out the trends of the evening: glitter, feathers, chokers, brooches and red lipstick. Here, are the best examples.
bold shine
Whether it’s sequins or, unsurprisingly, beading, sparkle was the name of the game this year. Oscar. And there was a version for everyone, from sexy to classic to very cool. We saw stars like Wunmi Mosaku in Louis Vuitton with bold gem tone sequins, Kate Hudson in head-to-toe seafoam paillettes by Armani Privé, and Audrey Nuna in Thom Browne’s ball gown skirt with gilded beading.

Wing
One of the top trends of fashion month were feathers – cut into Schiaparelli couture, Chanel Fall 2026, etcetera, etcetera. It was exciting to see the theme hit the red carpet just days after the conclusion of Paris Fashion Week. Chanel took front position here with Teyana Taylor in a tiered ostrich feather skirt with matching black and handbag and also with Nicole Kidman in a feather-accented peplum number. Demi Moore wore a more bird-like custom by Gucci.

choker necklace
I am not exaggerating when I say that almost every single woman was strangled. below are my favorites Anne Hathaway in Bvlgari (and Valentino), Chase Infinity in DeBeers (and Louis Vuitton) and Jessie Buckley in Chanel. But we also saw them on Zoe Saldana, Mickey Madison, Kristen Wiig, Alicia Silverstone, Ava DuVernay, Elle Fanning, Priyanka Chopra, Anna Wintour — the list is long.

beautiful brooch
For those who wore menswear, it was all about the brooch. My favorite of the evening was Pedro Pascal in an unexpectedly large white floral pin made of feathers over a crisp white shirt. More classically, Hudson Williams wore a small diamond brooch on the lapel of this all-black three-piece Balenciaga fit. And if you looked very closely, you could see the tiniest gold embellishment in the center of Miles Caron’s brown monochrome Ameri ensemble.

Standout Beauty Look: Red Lips + Slicked Bun
If there was any standout beauty trend, it was easily red lips and sleek hair. (For men: mustache and bow tie.) Renate Reinsway, Rose Byrne, Lee Jun Lee, and Jessie Buckley all rocked this look. Model Precious Lee did the same at the Vanity Fair after-party.
