Thoughts on today’s verse…
Only Christians win in life. This is because none of us who are human have the power to stop our greatest enemy, death (Hebrews 2:14-15; 1 Corinthians 15:26). But when we persevere, we are given the final victory: the crown of life, life that will not pass away (Revelation 2:10). Because our life is in the hands of Him who has defeated death, death cannot separate us from our victory in Jesus Christ God! As the apostle Paul emphasized:
When the perishable will be clothed with indestructibility and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where is, O Death, your victory? Where is, O Death, your sting?”The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thank God! He gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing shake you. Always devote yourself completely to the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)
My prayer…
Father, thank you for giving me the assurance that when all is said and done, I will forever share in your life and Jesus’ victory over sin, death, hell, and the evil one. Help me to live confidently today, knowing that I have Your life and that the living part of me, united with Jesus, will never die (Colossians 3:1-4). In the name of Jesus, my victorious King, I pray. Amen.
