Does anyone else have kids who are well into March Madness? Everyone in our family including my parents, in-laws, and sister filled out the brackets, which is making it even more fun!
Saturday
Saturday morning started with separate workouts for Ryan and I. I used to take weekends off completely from working out, but ever since I started doing Madeline Moves workouts last fall, Saturday workouts are starting to pop up here and there. I often have to skip workouts during the week for whatever reason and use Saturday as my makeup day. I find that I’m really enjoying the feeling of a no-rush weekend workout.
(still love me stack mat! I think the code PBFINGERS15 should still work for 15% off.)
Also, if anyone is interested in joining me for the upcoming Spring Madeline Moves challenges, this is how I first discovered it moves app for workouts and that’s what attracted me to their incredibly well-developed programming. I will share the date when signups open!
After my workout, I quickly showered and got dressed before our morning plans took us to Rhett’s preschool.
(top: high nest / Tank: Target but old / Jeans: frame – 50% off until tomorrow and my absolute favorite denim. My size dropped to 26. / clogs: birkenstock / Bag: Claire V. – Gifted but sold out – This one is similar)
Rhett’s preschool hosts a huge Easter Egg Hunt every year and it is so much fun!
They have bounce houses, a coffee truck, crafts and activities for kids and our whole family enjoys it. Can I tell you how sad I will be when our preschool days are behind us? I can’t think too much about it – we’ve been to the same preschool for 9 years! – Otherwise I’m a bit messed up.
Once we got home, we all had lunch before Kristin left woof pack Come for our weekly one hour training session with Comet. I will praise Kristin from the rooftops because she is helping us so much. Comet is a wonderful puppy, but really a puppy and to train such a high energy dog, professional help has been very valuable to our family. Before hiring Kristin I read two books on Vizsla training and nothing can replace personal help and guidance from a professional who has great passion for his job and endless knowledge and experience about all types of dog breeds, obstacles and antics.
we continued working on it skills we’re working on Only this time we also added some leash training into the mix.
(Photo of Ryder with Comet after picking him up from school on Friday. He said, “Mom, I hope Comet lives to be 203.” Me too. Thank God for Comet, especially during the last three weeks.)
After our session with Kristin, we had less than 5 minutes to get out the door to go to Chase’s flag football game.
(Sweatshirt: airy but old / sweatpants: Amazon – The pair that fits my girlfriend rooty pants But thicker and hotter. I am in a medium. / Shoes: Nike – size up!)
His team hasn’t won a game yet this season, but he’s really enjoying the game, his teammates, and his coach which is next level awesome. Also, I’ll try to snap a picture of our chair arrangement at the next game, but I’m not lying when I say at least 3 other couples’ parents have purchased these collapsible amazon rocking chairs After our efforts this season. I initially gave one to Ryan (I think for Father’s Day?) and I had to order one for myself too, because it’s so comfortable.
We brought it home early in the evening and made pizza for dinner the night before.
sunday
Our Sunday morning passed in a blur, but Rhett would definitely disagree as he kept asking me every 30 minutes how much time was left for his friend Roman’s birthday party. He was very invested in this party and I think his excitement was not only from the theme (a carnival!), but also from the fact that the party was for one of the His Friends and not his elder brother’s friends. (Most of his best friends have birthdays in the summer, so it’s been a few months since their last birthday party. It took a bit of a dry spell for this party to get their excitement sky-high!) All week, Rhett had been counting down to Roman’s birthday party and on Sunday the day finally came!
As it turns out, Rat’s enthusiasm was more than necessary, as the party was one of the most creative children’s birthday parties we’ve ever attended. Roman’s mom is a friend of mine since preschool and did the most incredible job creating homemade games, tickets, prizes, and a theme theme carnival food. The kids had a great time and all the parents were praising Brian’s efforts and creativity. If you are looking for a kids birthday party theme, go for this one because it was a slam dunk!
After the party, Rhett and I returned to an empty house as Ryan took the older kids to a park for chase flag football practice. Ryder loves going with Ryan when Rhett hangs out with me and he really enjoys playing soccer or one-on-one time with Dad during chess practice.
We spent the rest of the day doing the usual Sunday business before everyone returned home and it was time for dinner and the Duke vs. UConn game. Did any of you see that!?!? It was absolutely wild.
By the end we were all screaming!! Rhett and I were especially excited because UConn is winning both of our March Madness brackets, for the sole reason that Rhett’s favorite stuffed animal in the world is a husky named Suki.
And now it’s time to start this Monday. It will be a short week here for our crew as we will soon be heading to Sarasota for a long Easter weekend with my in-laws. We’re ready for some Florida sun, sand and family time!
