Even when skinny jeans were popular, I wasn’t the biggest fan. Wearing pants doesn’t come natural to me, and skinny jeans represent everything I dislike about them. They are restricted and stiff, offering no movement. That’s exactly why I found them difficult to style.
With everyone claiming that 2026 is the new 2016 (I haven’t seen it yet, IMO, but I digress), there’s no hiding the fact that skinny jeans are finally making a comeback. I can own them—not because I feel the need to follow a trend, but because I feel genuinely inspired by the attractive women I’ve seen wearing them. There’s no denying that they have a rock ‘n’ roll sensibility that makes them intimidating but oh-so-cool.

I think the key to loving skinny jeans is to just try on a pair that doesn’t feel out of your comfort zone in terms of denim. For me, that just meant seeing pairings that didn’t feel so The tights and wash gave a vintage feel. Skinny jeans that look a little worn in are also common now, and many of them come in warmer washes than were popular in 2016. This little detail makes them feel a little more modern and a little less twee.
