Thoughts on today’s verse…
Jesus took away our sins. He didn’t just take them to the cross; He also suffered the punishment we deserve for those sins. His pain was our cure. His suffering was our righteousness. How can we think of returning to sin after suffering so much to receive His punishment? So, let’s begin each day by declaring, “Today, O God, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I am dying to my sins and living for righteousness! Please help me fulfill my commitment by the transforming power of the Spirit to become more Jesus-shaped, more Jesus-like, each day” (2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 1:28-29).
My prayer…
Holy God, how you could look upon Your precious Son under the burden of all the sins of human history as well as my sin, I will never understand. Thank you for being such a great loving and such a merciful God. O Lord, no one, neither in heaven, nor on earth, nor in the spiritual realm, is compared to You. Your greatness is beyond imagination, and your love is beyond my dreams. I choose and am committed to living today for Your glory because of Jesus, who took away my sins so that I could become Your righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21; Colossians 1:21). In your Son’s precious name, I pray. Amen.
