RCB fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has returned to the IPL and is playing his part in RCB’s race to defend their first IPL title. He has now considered the most suitable T20 pacer and has created one himself.
The big Australian is often cited as one of the most accurate fast bowlers in cricket history, especially in T20 cricket. Hazlewood often reminds us of the great Glenn McGrath, who was very precise in his control of line and length.
After ending IPL 2025 with 20+ wickets and picking up wickets this season too, Hazlewood, despite his injury, looks in good shape and has bowled his full quota of overs. His four runs in the death overs against David Miller and Tristan Stubbs brought RCB back to their previous game against Delhi Capitals.
Josh Hazlewood picks young Indian speed gun
Recently, during a fun conversation with RCB fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, he was asked to create a world-class T20 bowler and he was asked to choose one player for every attribute he was asked to choose.
Josh Hazlewood had to start at a fast pace, which is very important for a fast bowler. He did not cite Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, or Lockie Ferguson, but chose two Indian fast bowlers with raw pace.
Hazlewood suggested KKR fast bowler Karthik Tyagi and LSG fast bowler Mayank Yadav and claimed that they have some express pace. However, he missed out on Ashok Sharma, who has bowled the fastest ball in this edition of the Tata IPL. Mayank has not played a single match yet, while Karthik is bowling well for Knight Riders.
Hazlewood shy of picking himself, picks Kagiso Rabada for his best work
Josh Hazlewood himself is an almost ideal T20 bowler, with exceptional control over his line and length, his ability to start with the new ball and then bowl yorkers in the death overs. However, he did not select himself for any of these characteristics.
He chose Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada for their control over line and length and great fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah for his variations. After this he chose Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his tremendous yorker.
He then chose Kagiso Rabada again for bouncers who can blow someone’s head off, and picked his first Australian pick in Mitchell Starc, citing his wicket-taking ability as the best in the world.
Hazlewood described Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the best bowlers.
Lastly, talking about the bowling excellence phase-wise, Josh Hazlewood picked Jasprit Bumrah as the best bowler in the death overs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the best with the new ball citing the number of wickets.
When he was asked to choose a player with amazing game awareness for a fast bowler, he ultimately chose himself. However, he admitted that fast bowlers are becoming wiser and more aware of the playing conditions.
Finally, when it came to choosing ‘Aura’ for a T20 fast bowler, he again chose Jasprit Bumrah. It seems absolutely true that as a fast bowler, Bumrah enjoys immense stardom and immense publicity.
