Charlie Sheen has finally revealed how his father Martin Sheen reacted after watching his film and why his brother Emilio Estevez refused to star in his film.
On Wednesday, April 22, the 60-year-old American actor took part in a panel event for his two-part Netflix documentary, aka charlie sheen,wHere he reveals that his father Martin “loved” his tell-all documentary.
Sheen recalled, “He was laughing, he was crying, he was so engaged and he comes up to me afterward and says, ‘I’m already in it. I’d rather be young, handsome than this guy right now, you don’t need this old guy in your movie,'” adding, “”I’m like, ‘Okay, I beg to differ.'”
Documentary director Andrew Renzi said that Emilio did not want to be in the spotlight in a project about his brother’s life, so he decided not to get involved.
Renzi quipped, “He wanted the project to be with Charlie…It was just Charlie’s moment and we were into it. He felt like those were my stories to tell.”
According to the 41-year-old film director, Estevez avoided ruining the charm of the already well-documented stories about Charlie with his decision.
“If I’m putting myself in their shoes without them directly telling me, this is their life that they’ve been living for a long time and there was probably going to be a lot of crap in it that they didn’t want to sit there and talk about,” Renzi explained.
