Iran has said Pakistan has no plans for direct talks with the United States, denying earlier reports of a possible meeting.
According to statements shared on Twitter, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai said, “No meeting is planned between Iran and the US. Pakistan will be informed of Iran’s comments.”
Baghai said Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is currently in Pakistan to meet officials as part of mediation efforts.
He said the visit was “in line with his ongoing mediation and good offices to end the aggressive war imposed by the US and restore peace in our region.”
The statement comes amid conflicting signals on possible talks. Earlier, the White House had said that envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were expected to travel to Pakistan for direct talks with Iranian representatives.
The mixed messages have increased uncertainty over diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the two countries.
Pakistan has joined the mediation efforts as international pressure grows to find a solution to the ongoing conflict.
