As a mom of three young children, I’m always chasing these three unicorns: 1. Finishing my morning cup of coffee before it gets cold; 2. Taking a family photo in which everyone is smiling; 3. Finding clothes that make me look beautiful And It’s comfortable when I pick up, carry, swing, and run with (and after) my kids.
Of course, a t-shirt and leggings will do. But seven months postpartum, I’m longing to be spandex-free! So, while getting ready for my daughter Ella’s softball game the other day, I gave myself two rules: wear green to match Ella’s team color and avoid wearing a T-shirt for the love of God.
Then I noticed a top I had never worn before: this button-up camp shirt.
Flash-forward two hours later. My family and I are sitting on the sidelines of a hot, dusty baseball field, watching a bunch of five-year-old girls chase softballs. As the sun sets, I bounce my baby girl Evelyn in my arms. I’m content with the fact that I’m going to have the biggest pothole in the world.
But here comes a twist in the story. At the end of the game, I don’t feel sticky, and there are no sweat stains to be seen. Instead, I feel good and dare I say it… refreshed? Plus, as I take rosy-cheeked Ella in my arms to greet her, my midriff remains completely covered. Below is a picture of me feeling myself in the shirt, after Games and a trip to the ice cream store with the kids.

What makes this shirt so magical is the cut and material: it’s made of sweat-wicking material, but it has the feel of a classic camp shirt. It has all the qualities of a workout top, without looking like a workout top. Next time we have family day, I plan to go full camp counselor vibes and wear this shirt with high-rise khaki shorts and a bandana. Here are more camp shirts I have my eye on, made from other lightweight and breathable fabrics:
Idea? How cool would it be if we all wore our favorite camp shirts to a Cup of Joe meet-up? What other styles make you feel beautiful? And Comfortable these days?
