we made it! After all, it’s the first Monday in May, which means the hottest celebrities and tastemakers are busy climbing the famous stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2026 Met Gala. This year, the museum will display an exhibition titled costume artThe ball’s dress code is “Fashion is Art”. Guests were asked to “express their relationship with fashion as a tangible art form and celebrate the countless depictions of the adorned body throughout art history,” and so far, many have done exactly what they were told. (There are always some rogues who don’t do this, a bold choice considering how often off-theme looks get negative reviews.) Naturally, co-host Beyoncé knows better, rising to the occasion as usual — and doing so with her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who made her Met Gala debut tonight.

For tonight’s ball, Beyoncé’s first ball in a decade cowboy carter The singer chose to work with designer Olivier Rousteing, former creative director of Balmain, together creating a silver, skeletonized nude dress that was fitted with matching crown, along with her sister Solange. Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Church Headpiece and a feather cape from 2018. (In 2016, her last Met Gala, she wore a peach-colored latex number from Givenchy.) However, the tiara wasn’t the only embellished accessory she wore. In addition, she worked with Chopard, creating a mix of diamond pieces, including a necklace in 18k white gold, a 6.41-carat brilliant-cut diamond and a 140-carat diamond. Excessive Diamonds. And that’s not counting bracelets, earrings and rings.

Their daughter took a simpler route, wearing a white, strapless bubble dress with a short hemline that showed off her Cinderella-esque pumps and a coordinating bomber jacket by Baleniaga. A diamond necklace with a yellow diamond pendant was the star, while her brown, cat-eye sunglasses gave her a sense of effortless cool that only a 14-year-old girl could pull off. YesShe is 14 years old, and YesWe are feeling old too.
Beyoncé was the picture of a proud mother on the red carpet, saying of her daughter, “She looks so beautiful.” “To be able to share (her first Met Gala) with her is incredible.” She also praised her daughter’s red carpet posing, saying, “She was ready! She’s ready.”
