Josh Inglis turned the IPL 2026 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) into his personal highlight reel with some incredible reverse scoops and sweeps at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (May 10).
The explosive Australian batsman stunned the Chennai Super Kings bowlers with his timing, placement and fearless intent during the crucial match of IPL 2026. During the CSK vs LSG clash, Inglis created a rare record-like moment by playing multiple reverse scoop shots inside the first six overs.

Josh Inglis’ aggressive start and rare shot selection immediately put pressure on the bowling side. The first big moment came when Akeal Hossein bowled a full ball targeting the pads. Inglis immediately got down on one knee and played a sweep shot towards the fine leg region.

Even though he didn’t hit it perfectly, the ball still found the gap and raced to the boundary. Then the real fireworks happened and two of them were the highlights of the game. Mukesh Chaudhary tried to bowl a back-of-a-length ball away from Inglis, but the LSG batsman was already prepared.
He made a change early on and executed the reverse paddle with perfect timing, taking the ball over third man for a brilliant six. Soon after, Anshul Kamboj adopted a similar strategy and bowled a good length outside the off stump.
But Inglis again understood the length perfectly, got into position quickly, and this time went for the reverse pull, and the ball went deep over third man for another maximum.

With these shots the Australian star has created history in IPL. In a rare feat, Inglis became the first player to bowl three reverse scoops in the first six overs of an IPL innings. Inglis scored 16 runs against CSK with those brilliant shots.

Josh Inglis played a explosive inning of 85 runs in just 33 balls before being dismissed by Jamie Overton in Chennai. Earlier, he had scored a half-century in 17 balls against CSK.
With this fearless hitting against Chennai Super Kings, the Australian star became the first player to score a half-century in 17 balls or less at Chepauk. It was also the third fastest half-century for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL after Nicholas Pooran’s innings of 15 and 16 balls.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first. Inglis’ brilliant attacking innings of 85 runs and Shahbaz Ahmed’s unbeaten 43 runs in 25 balls took Lucknow Super Giants to a strong score of 203/8 against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 match.
Chasing the target at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK got off to a great start as they scored 125 runs in just 9 overs with Sanju Samson out for 28 off 14 balls off the bowling of Digvesh Rathi.
Urvil Patel created a stir in Chepauk by playing a stormy innings of 65 runs in just 23 balls against LSG. Gaikwad is batting on 32* as CSK needs 78 runs off 64 balls to beat LSG and boost their playoff chances.
