Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran is “ready for every option” as talks remain stalled amid rising tensions over the ongoing conflict with the United States.
In a post on social media on Monday, Ghalibaf warned that Iran’s military was ready to respond to any attack.
Ghalibaf wrote, “Our armed forces are ready to give a lesson-like response to any aggression.”
“A strategy of miscalculation and wrong decisions will always yield wrong results; the entire world has understood this by now. We are prepared for every option. They will be surprised.”
Later on Monday, the Iranian parliament speaker said there was “no alternative” other than Washington to accept the rights of the Iranian people under Tehran’s proposed 14-point plan.
Ghalibaf said, “Any other approach would be completely inconclusive; nothing but one failure after another.”
“The longer they drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will pay for it.”
Ghalibaf recently led talks with US officials in Islamabad, Pakistan, but he faced criticism from Iranian hard-liners who considered his approach too soft towards Washington.
The comments came as US President Donald Trump described Iran’s latest proposal as “unacceptable” and warned that the ceasefire was on “large scale life support”.
