US Senator Chuck Schumer says Democrats will force another Senate vote this week in an effort to block President Donald Trump’s military involvement in Iran.

Schumer criticized Trump for dragging the United States into an “illegal, costly war without any goal or any end game.”

    In a post on

“If Republicans vote against our resolution, they will continue to bear the blame for Trump’s war.”

The War Powers Resolution was introduced to limit the President’s ability to engage in prolonged military conflict without congressional approval after 60 days of hostilities.

Democrats have made repeated efforts in recent weeks to halt or limit U.S. military operations related to the Iran conflict.

Although most efforts have failed because votes in Congress largely followed party lines, Republicans maintained support for the administration’s position.

The latest push comes amid rising political tensions in Washington over the ongoing war and concerns about rising military and economic costs associated with the conflict.
