So what makes this serum so special? Instead of using skin care ingredients like Vinoperfect uses viniferin, a vitamin C that you’ll often find in brightening serums. This ingredient (which is derived from vine juice) is 62 times more effective than vitamin C, and, in one clinical study, showed a 63% reduction in dark spots after 56 days (about the price of a bottle). This makes it a great alternative to a vitamin C serum if your skin is sensitive, or if your complexion doesn’t tolerate more powerful actives.
Some brightening serums irritate my sensitive skin, but not this Caudalie one. It gives results while soothing my skin with its light milky texture. The formula also includes Olive Squalene, a non-greasy but skin-nourishing ingredient that doesn’t clog pores or make skin feel greasy. It absorbs fast, sits well under makeup and feels hydrating all day long.
before and after
Since entering the warmer months, my skin has started to develop some seasonal blemishes due to being outside more (despite being diligent) SPF—it only takes one sunny day to make them come back!), and I’m also dealing with the consequences of breakouts and acne scars. So, it seemed like the right time to test this serum once again to see how it performed on my sun damage and post-acne hyperpigmentation.
First

I apply the serum both morning and night in place of my usual vitamin C serum, and apply SPF for the day or under another serum or moisturizer in the evening. The milky texture sinks straight in, leaving my oily-inclined complexion feeling comfortable and relaxed.
after

While it takes about six to eight weeks to see full results, I started seeing a difference after a week. my laziness Acne scars looked less inflamed and were fading faster than usual, and my skin overall looked more radiant and clear. Sure, my freckles remain, but my skin tone definitely looks more even. For more stubborn dark spots or melasma, it may take longer to see full benefits.
After a month, my skin feels calmer and more radiant. I wake up in the morning and can see a visible difference in the glow and evenness of my complexion. Pigmentation is smoother, and my skin feels soft and hydrated. I also appreciate the oil-free formula, and can happily report that it didn’t cause any breakouts.
Is it worth it?
In short, yes! I’m so glad I discovered this serum again because I have fallen in love with it all over again. It deserves its iconic status as a modern skin care icon. If you are looking for a brightening serum that is easy to use then I would especially recommend this Sensitive skin, or want to address concerns like pigmentation, post-acne scars or sun damage.
Although it takes time to work (especially on more stubborn forms of pigmentation, such as melasma), I have really enjoyed using this serum. It has helped reduce my long-standing acne scars, as well as make my complexion more even and glowing. It’s a little more expensive than most serums, but, in my opinion, it’s totally worth the investment, and I’ll be topping up my bottle once I run out of it.
