And just like that, our family’s chapter of preschool days has come to an end. I need a minute to type out the swirling mess of emotions related to Rhett’s preschool graduation and the conclusion of our family’s preschool days, but that’s a lot and it’s one of the final moments that came into motherhood faster than I could have imagined. If I’m being honest, I felt like a mess yesterday, but we are so proud of Rhett and so grateful to have had such a great preschool experience at the preschool we have loved for 9 years. How are we here already!?!?
While Rhett’s school is officially over, our older kids have school until next Friday. We’re planning to celebrate Rhett’s big milestone (and the end of the school year) with our boys this weekend as a family “Yes Day.” Thankfully, several of you asked for advice on how to format such a fun day for the boys on Instagram and they were stoked! I’m sure I’ll share more on the blog next week, but for now let’s dive into a roundup of this week’s favorites.
I hope my American readers enjoy the long weekend and join me in taking time to remember why we have this extended holiday. We are acutely aware at home that the life and freedom we have are because of the brave men and women who gave their lives for our country. We are very grateful.
Things I Love on Friday
Warning to my fellow seafood lovers: Fishwife Canned Fish Is on another level. The company sent me some of their tins to sample and earlier this week, I picked out a tin of smoked salmon To use on top of my lunch salad. Well, I didn’t use it on top of the salad because it was so good I ate it straight out of the tin. I mean do you see that salmon filet!?! It was flaky and buttery and didn’t taste good at all. To say that I was stunned by the quality of their fish is an understatement. I went to their website to order more and saw that they had a Memorial Day weekend sale going on right now – and apparently it’s one of only two sales they run every year (Black Friday is the other) – get 20% off with the code SUMMER20. I’ve stocked up and am thrilled to have an easy high-protein option on hand that isn’t just another protein bar.
(swim top: albion fit /Swim Skirt: albion fit — code MDWJULIE saves 15%)
I know swimsuit bottoms are getting sexier by the day, but can I get you interested in this? swimming skirt? Ha!! I got my first swim skirt during our prep first disney cruise Because I wanted something I could wear from the pool or beach to a buffet without feeling the need to cover up. I liked it so much that I ordered another (my code MDWJULIE saves 15% sitewide!) and it’s been a great find for me. As a person with a booty, I’m often self-conscious about my butt in bathing suits, mainly because my butt cheeks eat up the bottom of swimsuits and I hate feeling like I have to pull and tug on them to get good coverage. I’m also pretty active in swimsuits (life as a mom with 3 boys), so swim skirts are a great option for me when I run around with the boys. I wore this to Rhett’s preschool graduation pool party and I swear half the moms in her class asked me to send them the link to it. Whatever makes me feel more comfortable and confident in a swimsuit, I’m totally going to embrace it!
i got this 40-Ounce Era Flip Brumette For my birthday because Ryan saw how much I love and use him 35-Ounce Resa Brummet. This version was an instant hit for me because it fits in my car’s cupholder, has a handle, keeps my electrolyte water cold, and – and it’s new! -This was a cover that you could slide into place to protect the straw. I also love the happy little pattern and think how fun and summery it looks!
Bless Ryan for adding these resistance bands In our home gym! The other day he had a set on his squat rack and when I went over to check, I noticed the weight was labeled on the bands. Then I realized it was part of a set where you could change the handles on the bands to offer different resistances which I thought was a genius concept. Since I do most of my workouts at home these days and rely on resistance bands for some exercises move together workout challenge I’m done, these bands ended up being one of those great little discoveries I never knew I needed. They have been especially helpful for back exercises, core work, and triceps press-downs. Thanks, Ryan!!
