This is part of Outsports’  series of “Dear Giants” letters written by San Francisco Giants fans and sent to the team after their mishandling of this season’s Pride Night, with <a href="https://christiancorner.us/2026/07/10/south-carolina-man-who-set-fire-to-georgia-church-claims-bible-verse-inspired-him/” title=”South Carolina man who set fire to Georgia church claims Bible verse inspired him”>Bible verses written on Pride caps by three players intending to send an anti-gay message during Pride Night

Laura Gamble has, until now, attended about three or four San Francisco Giants home games each season for the last decade. She’s considered herself a true Giants fan

The team’s mishandling of three pitchers demonstrating anti-gay bias during the team’s Pride NIght has turned her fandom upside down

For context, Laura, who attends several Giants home games every season, had sent the following to team management even before the other relief pitchers had entered the game wearing the Pride caps with demeaning Bible verses

Here is Laura’s letter she sent to the team

I am writing as a lifelong Giants fan

I grew up going to games at Candlestick Park. I was there in 2010 when Tim Lincecum battled Cliff Lee in the World Series

This franchise has meant something to me for decades

Landon Roupp’s decision to write a Bible verse on his cap on the one night the organization dedicates to its LGBTQ+ fans was not a quiet act of personal faith. It was a deliberate, public act of contempt, made on the mound, in uniform, on Pride Night

    That is bigotry

Dressing it up as anything else is cowardice. And since he wants to invoke scripture, Leviticus 19:19 prohibits wearing garments made of mixed fabrics. Giants uniforms are polyester blends. He had no problem putting one on

Selective biblical outrage is not faith. It is a targeting mechanism

You invited your LGBTQ+ fans in and then put a man on the mound who used that platform to tell them they don’t belong. And now you have a choice about what kind of organization you are. Silence is its own answer

I have sold my remaining tickets for the season. I will not spend another dollar with an organization that tolerates this

You are losing games, and you are losing fans. Congratulations on finding a way to be bad at both. This is rot. This is loser behavior. Fix it

Laura shared with Outsports several steps she would need to see from the San Francisco Giants before she could again call herself a devout Giants fan:

    1. Take accountability by naming the harm they inflicted on the city and lgbtq community.
    2. Apologize (Larry’s email did not do this).
    3. Reaffirm their commitment to inclusivity at the ballpark – with financial donations to LGBTQ orgs.
    4. Ensure that the giants dugout culture is not fostering a culture of bigotry – in particular with Tony Vitello and Buster Posey.
