The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has offered to extend financial support to the families of two private devotional musicians who recently lost their lives in a road accident while en route to perform at a TTD temple

The TTD trust board, led by chairman B.R. Naidu, has announced that it will extend help to the families of violinist K. Chakravarthy and tabla player K. Nagaraja Chetty, who had been engaged by the TTD’s Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishat (HDPP) to perform at a Harikatha event in a TTD-run temple near Satravada, on the Andhra Pradesh—Tamil Nadu border. The two died in a road accident after their two-wheeler collided with an APSRTC bus on the Vadamalapeta-Pudi road two days ago

Mr. Naidu held talks with Executive Officer M. Ravichandra regarding financial relief for the families of the victims. However, the TTD rules do not contain specific provisions to assist the families of contracted private employees in the event of such unforeseen mishaps

Treating this as an exceptional case, the TTD management announced that it would extend special privileges and has deputed HDPP Secretary Dr. Medasani Mohan to visit the families and provide ₹25,000 each towards funeral expenses. Similarly, it announced an ex gratia payment of ₹5 lakh to their legal heirs and will fund the educational needs of their children up to the Bachelor’s degree at TTD-run institutions. This decision will be ratified by presenting it at the next meeting of the TTD trust board.
