The JI chief said that despite being senior in age, Ameerul Azeem fulfilled the responsibilities of Secretary General with complete dedication and discipline, setting an example for every party worker. He added that Ameerul Azeem firmly believed Jamaat-e-Islami had entered a decisive phase in its struggle for the establishment of Islam, and urged party workers and all those committed to the supremacy of Islam to prepare themselves for the great mission ahead. In 2019, then JI Emir Sirajul Haq appointed him as the party’s Secretary General

The late leader devoted his life to the establishment of Islam, democratic struggle and the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law in Pakistan. He played a frontline role in the historic Lawyers’ Movement for the restoration of the judiciary and contested the 2002 by-election for a Punjab Assembly seat from Lahore on the platform of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA). Widely respected across political, social and media circles for his humility, courtesy and cordial relations, Ameerul Azeem was regarded as one of Jamaat-e-Islami’s finest organizers, mentors and ideological guides.
