    • Since at least May 2020, Facebook users have copied and pasted a rumor alleging Facebook removed a Bible verse post from a user’s profile displaying the name Jennifer Wilson Hall.
    • According to reposts of the rumor, Hall attempted to share 2 Chronicles 7:14, an Old Testament Bible verse some people have quoted to support their belief the that Founding Fathers established the U.S. as a Christian nation.
    • Snopes has not yet located enough evidence to definitively confirm or debunk that this happened. As such, we have not yet added a fact-check rating to this article.
    • To learn more, we contacted Meta and a Facebook user matching Hall’s name. That user told us by phone she had no knowledge of Facebook removing a Bible verse from her profile and knew nothing about the matter. We also reached out to an apparent friend of Hall’s named Ron Swindall who appeared to originate the copied-and-pasted posts with a post tagging Hall’s profile. We will update this article if we receive further information.

In July and August 2026, Facebookusersreposted a years-oldrumor about religion and technology. The posts featured copied-and-pasted text alleging Facebook removed a Bible verse post a user named Jennifer Wilson Hall shared

For example, one post (archived) from July 25 read as follows:

Earlier today, Jennifer Wilson Hall had a post removed by Facebook stating the content “did not meet their community standards”. Well, below is the bible verse that was removed. I am asking that everyone who sees this, please post the verse also

    2 Chronicles 7:14,

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. “🙏

God bless America! I am asking that everyone who sees this to please post the verse also

    I copied & pasted. Won’t you?

A silent nation is a defeated nation!

God is on High!! He’s still in control! His Son Jesus Christ IS the only way!! Amen!!@

The posts displayed 2 Chronicles 7:14, an Old Testament Bible verse some people have quoted to support their belief the that Founding Fathers established the U.S. as a Christian nation

A Snopes reader previously asked (archived) about this matter in the Snopes Tips Facebook group. We also received numerous reader emails and website searches over the years from people wanting to find out if Facebook truly removed a Bible verse a woman named Jennifer Wilson Hall posted

Snopes has not yet located enough evidence to definitively confirm or debunk this rumor. As such, we have not yet established a fact-check rating for this article. We will add updates should we uncover further details

To learn more, we contacted Meta and a Facebook user matching Hall’s name. That specific person named Jennifer Wilson Hall told us by phone she knew nothing about the matter. We also reached out to an apparent friend of Hall’s named Ron Swindall who appeared to originate the copied-and-pasted posts with a post tagging Hall’s profile. We will update this article if we receive further information

    Researching the rumor

Searches for the copied-and-pasted text claiming Facebook removed Hall’s Bible verse post found posts as far back as May 2020, prior to the creation of the Meta parent company name in 2021. The searches located other2020posts, as well

According to those searches, a Facebook user named Ron Swindall created the oldest public-facing post (archived) on May 16, 2020. His post featured a tagged link for a woman’s profile matching Hall’s name living in Mississippi — the same Hall who told us by phone she had no knowledge of Facebook removing a Bible verse post

    (Ron Swindall accessed

In Swindall’s post, he called Hall a “good friend.” His post’s inclusion of the words “copied and pasted” appeared to only pertain to the second part of the text with the Bible verse. Swindall previously tagged Hall in other posts, including another one in which he called her a friend

Users commentingunder Swindall’s post alleged Facebook had also removed their posts containing Bible verses or statements about Christianity. They did not include evidence with their comments

One commenter under Swindall’s post asked if the alleged original Hall post Facebook supposedly took down featured text other than the Bible verse that possibly factored into its removal. For example, searches found manypeople and pagessharing the same verse in 2020 along with largechunks of text about a wide variety of subjects

Commenters under reposts containing the Hall story and Bible verse accuratelynoted Meta had not removed those posts, reassuring some users that the company had not sought to permanently and widely censor or remove Christian content — a rumor we’ve reported on in the past

Meta’s website says the company “uses technology and review teams to detect, review and take action on millions of pieces of content every day on Facebook and Instagram.” As of the 2020s, that technology included the presence of Meta’s own artificial intelligence. The company’s documentation acknowledges the automated moderation system can make mistakes, saying “we still have work to do” and that they want to “make sure review teams spend more time focused on the right decisions.”

For further reading, we previously reported as true the fact that a Facebook post showed a “sensitive content” label over an image displaying the words, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
