Microsoft email app Outlook was hit by a massive outage as hundreds of users were unable to access it on Monday.
Services stopped working just before 10 a.m. today in both the US and UK, according to internet outage tracker DownDetector.
More than 800 users and around 400 people in the UK have faced difficulty accessing email services. One of the main issues users are facing is logging in, which accounts for 64 percent of issues. Other users are having trouble receiving messages.
Microsoft also acknowledged widespread disruption to Outlook and Hotmail services on its service health page. According to officials, they are investigating the issue related to accessing Outlook through various platforms.
“Our investigation indicates that client sign-in scenarios may contribute to the reported behavior, and we are focused on verifying interactions across service components to identify next steps,” the statement on the website said.
Communication of Microsoft servers with third-party email clients may be the cause of the outage. According to the recent update, Microsoft technicians are currently investigating the root cause of the recent server failures and will provide continued updates as progress is made.
The company advises users that local fixes are unlikely to be effective until server-side issues are completely resolved.
