Apple’s Weather app is down, experiencing a massive outage on Tuesday afternoon, April 28.
The world’s leading tech company confirmed problems with its iOS Weather app on Tuesday afternoon, and its online support page showed that the app was experiencing an active outage.
The company’s support page included the note, “This service may be slow or unavailable,” a message visible when iPhone users in the United States reported trouble accessing the built-in Weather app on Tuesday afternoon.
As noted by Apple’s system status page, initial reports of the outage began around 11:36 a.m. ET.
Users across the United States took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and Reddit to report issues, with the app almost never experiencing outages, according to multiple reports.
Initially, Apple’s official page confirmed that Weather was working correctly, hours after receiving numerous complaints; Apple later acknowledged that there were problems.
DownDetector, which monitors service disruptions, has indicated an unusual increase in complaints about both The Weather Channel app and Apple Support.
The problems experienced by The Weather Channel may mirror those experienced by Apple Weather, which uses information from other companies.
The company’s support page included the note, “This service may be slow or unavailable,” a message visible when iPhone users in the United States reported trouble accessing the built-in Weather app on Tuesday afternoon.
Additionally, the issue appears to be sporadic and affects different users to varying degrees.
For many users the app did not load at all, while others experienced long delays.
Several Mashable editors in the United States said they were unable to access the app, while one Mashable editor was able to access it after waiting about 10 seconds.
This leaves millions of iPhone users unable to check the current forecast and temperature data.
Until the company marks the resolution of the incident on its official page – the issue remains under consideration.
