Mr Trump, wearing a bright red tie, led the king as he inspected troops standing on the lawn. The President saluted while moving forward at a fast pace.
Returning to the dais, Mr Trump delivered a 12-minute address, reflecting his warmth and affection for the royal family.
It was incredibly adorable, filled with jokes and praise for the king and his late mother.
Following this morning’s pomp and pageantry, the White House posted a photo of the monarch sharing a laugh with the US President during a formal welcome on its official Instagram account.
But it was the bizarre caption that raised eyebrows, which read: “Two kings. (crown emoji)”
Most people in the comments section praised the US President for hosting the formal welcome, while others claimed the caption was the ultimate “anger fodder”.
Following his official welcome, the King today delivered a moving address to Congress, describing the core of the relationship between the UK and US as “a story of reconciliation, renewal and remarkable partnership”.
He also referenced “victims” in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, saying: “Distinguished members of the 119th Congress, right here in these halls the spirit of liberty and the promise of America’s Founders is present in every session and every vote. Not by the will of any one, but by the deliberations of many who represent the living mosaic of the United States of America.
“In both our countries, it is the fact of our vibrant, diverse and free societies that gives us our collective strength, including supporting the victims of some of the evils that are so tragically present in both our societies today.”
