I have a love-hate relationship with concealer. Whenever I have dark circles or spots under my eyes, this is my best friend to cover them quickly and easily. However, even after testing hundreds of formulas, I have yet to find a concealer that doesn’t look dry or cakey after a few hours of wear. So, when I saw more and more brands creating a new wave of “blurry” formulas, I was immediately interested.
All I need is a lightweight, hydrating concealer that will blur under my eyes beautifully. I’m a big fan of skin blur shades and foundations and often refer to them as filters in a bottle. If my concealer has the same effect, I know my makeup will instantly be taken to the next level.
So, I took it upon myself to test some of the best options on the market. From brand new launches to some old classics, below you’ll find my short, tried-and-true edit of blurring concealers that provide the perfect finish on the skin. What are you waiting for? Keep scrolling.
Best blur concealers, tried and tested
1. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer
charlotte tilbury
Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer
Pros
- high coverage
- hydrating
- attractive packaging
Shortcoming
- a little goes a long way
A new launch from Charlotte Tilbury, and definitely one you need on your radar. The Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer is like a blurred skin filter, with a lightweight but high-coverage finish that expertly hides any traces of dark circles. The hyaluronic acid and squalane make it feel incredibly hydrating, but I must say, a little goes a long way tall Way, so if you don’t want it to shrink, start small and go from there. Besides, I don’t have any notes at all.
2. Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer
hourglass
Vanish Airbrush Concealer
Pros
- Good amount of coverage
- Doe-foot Applicator makes it easy to apply
- creamy formula
- creates a blurred effect
Shortcoming
- Be careful not to apply too much as this may cause it to shrink.
Next up, the OG of blur concealers. I have written a full review on Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer because I love it so much. It has a wonderfully creamy, nourishing texture that works well on both blemishes and under eyes, and the finish it gives is out of this world. It’s full coverage, so I try to pick it up on days with slightly heavier makeup, but what I like is that it never feels Heavy on skin. Instead, it creates a smoothing effect due to the microspherical powder that blurs and brightens the complexion.
3. Ilia Beauty Skin Blur Serum Concealer
Ilya Beauty
Skin Blurring Serum Concealer
Pros
- Hydrating, serum-like texture
- Removes dark circles and pores
Shortcoming
- This roundup doesn’t have as much coverage as other options
Ilia Beauty puts skin care at the center of its formulations, so I was really excited to try this concealer. Similar to the Hourglass Concealer, it has a creamy, lightweight texture (packed with peptides, FYI) and doesn’t cling to any dry areas of the skin. The formula also contains microspheres for that diffused finish we all love, and I was really impressed with how it blurred my dark circles and pores. The coverage is a little lighter than the option above, so although I wouldn’t use it for really serious blemishes, I would definitely apply it everywhere.
4. TIRTI Glide & Hide Blurring Concealer
Tirtir
Glide and Hide Blur Concealer
Pros
- two concealers in one
- blurry, light formulas
- easy to apply
Shortcoming
- Would love to see more colors in the future
This drugstore concealer looks so innovative. The product itself somewhat resembles lipstick, with a stick format that you swipe directly onto the skin. But that’s not all, because the clever packaging also contains a liquid concealer in the base of the pill. The velvety balm glides on the skin like butter, and blurs any signs of skin texture in just seconds. I like to apply it near the center of my face before using liquid concealer under my eyes and on my blemishes where my pores are most noticeable. Both the formulas feel completely weightless on the skin and do not dry it out at all. Ever since I got my hands on this product, it has replaced many concealers in my makeup bag.
5. Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer
dior
Forever Skin Correct Concealer
Pros
- really hydrating
- smooth termination
Shortcoming
- Doesn’t offer a large amount of coverage
Although this Dior makeup product is not technically marketed as a blur concealer, I personally think it is one of the best options. It’s incredibly light and hydrating, and lasts for hours on the driest parts of my complexion. The creamy formula sinks in like a dream, and while the coverage is definitely on the lighter side, it creates a seamless finish that makes my skin look like my skin, but better, you know? It’s definitely expensive, but I can see myself buying it again and again.
6. Merit Beauty The Minimalist
merit beauty
minimalist
Pros
- Replaces foundation and concealer
- blurs imperfections
Not quite a foundation, not quite a concealer, this Merit Beauty Complexion Stick technically meets just about anyone’s needs. I love using it as a foundation on “no makeup” makeup days, but also use it as a concealer with my tinted moisturizer for more coverage. It’s buildable, but makes light work of blurring imperfections and creating a second-skin finish. The only downside is that it can sometimes stick to dry skin, so I always prep my skin with a good serum or primer before using it.
