TL;DR
- Switch 2 users have found a workaround to watch YouTube videos on the console.
- The solution works, but only supports resolutions up to 360p.
- Google has not yet released an official YouTube app for the Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch 2 users have been waiting for an official YouTube app to grace the console since it first launched. Although Google has confirmed that an app is being developed, there has been no real progress in over a year. So it’s no surprise that gamers have come up with a solution to access YouTube on console in the meantime.

The solution was shared on reddit By user JampyL, who managed to discover that the news section of the free-to-download Switch 2 game super animal royale There are YouTube videos. Once the video opens inside the browser on the console, players can freely search and watch any YouTube content.

However, the solution does not come without many compromises. Videos inside the browser play at a maximum resolution of 360p, which may be difficult to watch. Additionally, users can’t even sign in to their YouTube accounts. This means users can’t rely on their playlists or recommendations to find videos, and must manually search for each video.
The lack of an official YouTube app on the Switch 2 is surprising, especially since the original Switch console had a YouTube app that allowed players to watch videos on the console. That particular app can still be downloaded by users on their new Switch 2 console.
However, that app doesn’t open, and until Google releases an official YouTube app for the latest Switch consoles, users are forced to watch 360p videos on consoles with Full HD displays and HDR support – both features that an official YouTube app would likely support and utilize.
That said, if you’re looking forward to watching YouTube content on your Switch 2, you can do so now, albeit at a much lower quality.
