Trump Mobile has drawn sharp criticism from customers after pre-order buyers of its gold-coloured T1 smartphones reported receiving emails suggesting their devices would not be shipped.
The venture, announced by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump in June 2025, collected deposits from hundreds of thousands of customers for a $499 Android device, originally promised an August 2025 delivery.
Social media reactions to the X reflected widespread disappointment among supporters.
One post said: “Trump supporters are freaking out because Don Jr. and Eric allegedly defrauded them and took all of their deposit for the Illustrious Gold Trump phone that they never got and probably never will. They didn’t even read the fine print because they have had no refunds on them in this period!”
Another user wrote: “So, Trumpers who signed up for $500 Trump phones years ago and haven’t received them yet got an email saying they will never receive them and… wait for it… wait for it…… Trump is keeping their deposit.”
A third post said: “Regarding the Trump phone, this comes from you. Yes, reports from buyers and multiple outlets confirm that customers who pre-ordered the Trump Mobile T1 ‘Golden’ phone (announced ~2025 with ~$100 deposit, full price around $500) have received emails this week stating the devices will not ship and deposits are non-refundable. No phone delivered after months of delay The risks are mentioned in the fine print, but complaints are widespread.”
Although some customers and social media users are calling the project canceled, Trump Mobile has not released any official statement confirming the cancellation of the T1 smartphone program.
Observers said the delay in the phones was due to actual supply chain and US manufacturing cost issues, not Trump’s personal decision.
His view is that company policy still allows full refunds upon request but business execution fell short of hype.
