“But the greatest among you shall be your servant.” -Matthew 20:26
My boss once told me a story about a janitor who worked for a very large corporation. He was cleaning nearby as an important board meeting was going on. The board officials were discussing a very serious issue for which no one had a solution. The watchman listened to them and said, “I think I know the answer to your problem,” and began to explain. At least it can be said that the board members were surprised. But since they had no other option, they proceeded with the watchman’s advice. As a result of his decision the problem was solved and the company gained thousands in profit. That person was elevated and invited to the leadership board.
The above story illustrates the concept of servant leadership. Jesus came as a man to save the world, but through perfect love and slavery He saved the world from sin and death.
if you have seen lord of the rings, You know that Frodo Baggins was the youngest person, the one least likely to bear the burden of the Ring of Power. The most unexpected person, the “weakest link”, may be the strongest person on the team. We should not underestimate our comrades. Everyone has something to offer, even the person who seems to be the weakest link.
